Coming hot off a great finish at MLG Columbus Team Envy has revealed that they will be competing in a Call of Duty: Online Exhibition in Shanghai China facing off against China’s top FPS teams. The exhibition will take place at the Tencent Games Carnival.
Call of Duty Online is an upcoming free-to-play game published by Tencent Games and developed by Activision. Call of Duty Online utilizes the rich, competitively-balanced FPS multiplayer experience that the Call of Duty franchise is known for and taps into fan-favorite maps and modes from multiple titles in the Call of Duty universe while introducing new content unique to Call of Duty Online. Call of Duty Online brings the Call of Duty franchise to China for the first time..
The team will begin their trip immediately following MLG Columbus on Monday, November 25th. Envy will have 2 days in Shanghai to train on the PC based FPS title before facing off against some of China’s fiercest PC based FPS players. The team will make their return back to the US on December 2nd to resume training on Call of Duty: Ghosts.
Envy will be represented in Shanghai by their 4 professional players Jordan “Proofy” Cannon, Damon “Karma” Barlow, Ray “Rambo” Lussier, and Joseph “Merk” Deluca as well as former pro player and current team co-owner Mike “Hastro” Rufail.
When asked about his thoughts on the trip, Rufail had this to say:
“This is one of those experiences we live for as a team. To be able to travel as diplomats for the game we love in a country like China is truly humbling. We’re very gracious for Tencent’s invite to Shanghai and are looking forward to giving the Chinese fans exciting matches to watch.”
